Moving On from a Challenging Birth
(Incorporating Vaginal Birth After Ceasarean)
by Debby Gould
Please note that this workshop has been extended to 3 hours
How was your birth?
Disappointing? Nothing really bad happened, but you can’t shake the feeling that something is missing?
Difficult? Things didn’t go as you’d hoped and your path to meeting your baby was completely different to what you had planned? Or maybe there were complications and decisions to be made for which you felt unprepared.
Downright Traumatic? You were left in total shock at the whole experience and can’t even begin to process the event? You felt frightened, or unacknowledged or powerless?
Good? - You just want to know the options for next time.
Had a Caesarean? (most of this information also relevant to those who have not had a caesarean)
This workshop offers evidence-based information within a context that may be helpful for women in decision-making and addressing the issues surrounding Birth After Caesarean. This perspective can be hard to obtain elsewhere and will be vital to your next experience of birth regardless of whether it is Vaginal or Caesarean.
You are invited to:
Debrief your experience in the context of gaining clarity about ‘what happened’. Begin processing any previous challenging birth and make it less likely to overshadow any upcoming birth as well as perhaps go back to your family more present and complete. Explore ways of making any future birth a better experience. Get your questions and concerns addressed with information to support you to make the best possible decisions for your family
Facilitated by Debby Gould – midwife, childbirth educator and mother as well as Co-founder of - ‘Birthtalk’ www.birthtalk.org and ‘CANA- Caesarean Awareness Network Australia.’ www.canaustralia.net
